Barge Personnel

Repair, maintenance, and overhauls of forklifs, cranes, and marine engines.

Job Locations:  Offshore Stafford,TX, Galveston, TX

• Review and prepare bids for platform salvage and removal projects.
• Review and prepare bids for heavy lift onshore and offshore projects.
• Site visits and job plan preparation.
• Project execution, coordination and management; on-site and/or offshore as required.
• Assist with crane maintenance and testing.
• Assist derrick barge superintendents and purchasing manager with procurement.
• Assist with coordination and scheduling of derrick barge maintenance.
• On-site supervision, as required.

Riggers/Helpers work with cables and ropes, which are used mainly for hoisting objects.  They also have knowledge of scaffolding, platforms and derricks.  Also operate heavy equipment.  They must accomplish different tasks such as the erection of hoisting tackle, assembling and erection of derricks, sheer-legs for construction purposes, and the installation and maintenance of steel cables used in various ways with pulleys, lifts, hoists or cranes.  They assist and do groundwork such as clearing up tracks after installation of machinery and moving of machinery from one place to another.  They also make use of various types of equipment.  They often use ropes and must therefore be acquainted with the various types of wire and manila ropes, knots and all different ways of splicing.  Before an object is handled, a rigger/helper may calculate or help calculate its weight and then ascertain or help ascertain the best way of securing or moving the object.  When everything is safe, they give instructions to the crane operator.  Health and Safety is of the utmost importance.
